Today Land of Excess brings you this picture of the “Tanning Area” [name as it appears on the listing floor plan] of the “Fitness Room” of the residential dwelling in Potomac, MD about which we wrote on Saturday. We might note that in this Land of Excess endeavor we have encountered all sorts of issues regarding culture and aesthetics and had all sorts of private qualms about those issues. In the Greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area there is a lot of money floating about, and there are people from all over the world who are earning that money and who are buying and occupying and selling residential buildings near out dear capitol.. Those buildings often appear, externally, to adhere to debased notions of colonial American architecture. But the inhabitants bring with them their own culture, and it is the translation of that culture to the debased prevailing culture in this neck of the woods that we find difficult to parse.
