Today’s photo from the Land of Excess is our fifth and last in this week’s inaugural category of “Grand Foyer” or “Grand Entrance Foyer” or “Grand Reception Hall”. (This one is actually called “Grand Entry Foyer”.) It is the most sober of this week’s group, lacking the overbearing symmetry and filigree of previous listings, and restricting the gold touches to picture frames. Which brings us to what makes this listing photo so unusual. The paintings in the gold frames (8 on the entry level, 2 above on the landing) have been blurred via photo editing software. We assume this was done in order to disguise the paintings due to their great value, or to their lack of general appeal. This place in McLean, VA is sandwiched in between the George Washington Memorial Parkway and the George Bush Center for Intelligence.
