This is the upper landing at the top of the Double Debutante Staircase of a Toll Brother’s [builders] Monticello Model, in Herndon, VA, listed for $1,285,000. Oh, and there is a third staircase at far left, too. We suppose this arrangement might be excellent for exercising computer-game numbed children on a rainy day but we fail to see any resemblance to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. Land of Excess finds that the residential real estate industry has so enthusiastically and thoroughly detached words from their meaning that it surpasses even the fine arts in this respect. Anyway, this ”Monticello Model” comes with 5 bedrooms, 5 full and 1 partial bath, and garaging for 3, as well as a waterfall and other “high quality upgrades”. Thomas Jefferson eat your heart out.
